A gloomy start for the Swaziland senior national team in the Africa World Cricket League Division 3 held in Benoni, South Africa, was rather followed by a massive win with the pride of the nation picking itself up and looked determined to contend for the title.

The match against tournament favourites, Sierra Leone, marked the start of the spectacular with Swaziland winning the toss and electing to field first.
Sierra Leone posted an attainable lead of 136 runs after an impressive bowling performance by the Swazis.

It was not to be though as Sierra Leone proved to be stronger on the bowling end as they sent the batsmen packing without each settling on the crease and won the match by 60 runs picking 9 wickets.
With the title hopes dented, the team did not falter but looked at the bright side for it will meet Sierra Leone in a second fixture, for each country plays the other twice.

The team then smothered The Gambia by 86 runs after posting 221 runs inspired by an extra ordinary Idrees Patel’s 113 runs.
Harris Khan then lead in front with the ball bagging 3 wickets in 4 overs only conceding 10 runs. The team faces Rwanda on Sunday March 23 at 10am and Sierra Leone at 2pm. It will then play The Gambia and Rwanda on the last day of the tournament on Tuesday March 25.

Swaziland is desperately looking for a promotion from Division 3 to Division 2 which its tournament will be held in Zambia in September 2014.
