MBABANE – Junior cyclist Mduduzi Zwane is having a tough time in his first Trac N4 Cycle Tour.

The challenging multi-stage event is taking place in Nelspruit in neighbouring South Africa.  After day three of the championships, the 17-year-old was still struggling to maintain a respectable position in the juniors section. He was placed on the 31st spot out of 34 cyclists before the final race yesterday.  He clocked 31:22 minutes as the event was 17km long. The results are posted on the Tour website.
Zwane tried to come to the party on the first day but could only finish 24th with a time of 4:06:11 hours.  Distance covered on the day was 122km.

Cycling Association of Swaziland (CAS) Secretary Menzi Tsela, in an earlier interview, had expressed his office’s delight on the international exposure the youngster was getting. The fast-improving cyclist is also in the squad to represent the country in the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Games to be held in Botswana in May this year.

Zwane is the country’s only representative in the tour. He is competing as part of his camp which started late in February this year at the World Cycle Centre Africa at Potchefstroom in South Africa.
The event started on Thursday and was expected to be concluded late yesterday.
