LOBAMBA – Faltering Mbabane Swallows may as well forget about defending the MTN League title as even their Zambian coach Christopher ‘Gazza’ Tembo is not convinced they can manage it.
Following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to their sworn rivals Manzini Wanderers in the league, the straight-talking coach expressed his dissatisfaction at his team’s performance. It was clear from his brief post-match comments that there was more than meets the eye that affected the team. “We’ve lost and it’s bad. We are so disorganised as a team and it is showing, hence we lost,” Tembo said.
Asked to expand on what he meant by ‘disorganised’, he said: “Tactically we are not there. We’re just tactically disorganised and there are also many factors contributing to it.”

Pressed to elaborate on it, Tembo maintained he could not say more than the fact that a whole lot was not right in the team – there was so much disorganisation which exposed them. He was then asked to comment on the poor performance against Wanderers that saw them lose the game.

“As I’ve said, we are just disorganised and not applying ourselves,” he said. Worth noting is that Tembo said the same thing when they were ousted by Royal Leopard in the SwaziBank Cup semi-final the previous weekend. Also, he had once said that his team was not good enough to be championship material after they were held by Moneni Pirates at Mayaluka Stadium.
This was also ahead of their Orange CAF Champions League game against Zambia’s Nkana FC that his team was not good enough to go any further in the continental showpiece. He said a championship side creates and scores goals while his team was failing to do that.

Meanwhile, his Wanderers’ counterpart Kenny Ndlazi was over the moon saying his players wanted the win so badly.
“My team was well-prepared for this game. Swallows are a good team and not easy to play against and when they scored that early goal it got tougher for us. I’m happy the players fought back and managed to recover and win the game,” he said.
Otherwise he said it was a brilliant game from both sets of players while adding the title race was still wide open hence he still believed the last three games would decide it. Meanwhile, police side Royal Leopard have now gone four points clear at the summit as Swallows slumped to a 2-1 crippling loss to sworn rivals Manzini Wanderers over the weekend.
