GCINIZWI, SEA BIRDS’ MUZI JOIN UNDER-20S
MBABANE – Premier League youngsters, Gcinizwi Dlamini and Muzi Tsabedze have got a call-up to the national Under-20s side.
The two players are among the changes made by the Ernest Mavuso-led technical bench in the squad to travel to Lesotho for the CAF African Youth Championships Qualifier second leg in Maseru. The local ensemble lost 0-3 at home about a fortnight ago. Dlamini, a defender for Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos, captained the side during the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Youth Championship in Lesotho in December last year.
Mavuso announced the changes that also saw the inclusion of Manzini Sea Birds’ nimble forward, Muzi Tsabedze, as well SwaziBank Under-20s Player of the Tournament Senzo Shongwe from Manzini Sundowns.
There are now three elite league players in the 20-member squad currently in camp at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. Sundowns left-footed midfielder, Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule, featured in the first leg.
“We believe in the selected players and we’d travel with all of them to Lesotho,” Mavuso said.
“We train at least three times a day and we also prepare the players psychologically.”
The impressive duo of Yamkela Dlamini from Malanti Chiefs Under-20s, and Khaya Makhanya of Hhohho Super League outfit, Tinyosi, has also made the cut.
The game will be played next Sunday and the team is expected to leave for the mountainous kingdom late next week.
