MBABANE - Gospel music powerhouse Nothando Hlophe solidified her reign as the undisputed queen of Eswatini Gospel, dominating the stage and the winners’ list at the National Gospel Music Awards (NGMA) 2025.
The spectacular evening, held at The Luke Commission (TLC) Auditorium on November 29, saw the revered artist walk away with multiple top honours, capping an already phenomenal, year marked by her international breakthrough.
Hlophe’s win follows her recent, historic victory, where she clinched the coveted Best of Africa Gospel Artist Award at the 18th Crown Gospel Music Awards in South Africa.
Hlophe’s triumphs in the major categories were the undeniable highlight of Best Gospel Artist, Best Gospel Song of the Year for her viral hit, ‘Methodist Medley’ and Best Gospel Album for her critically acclaimed project, ‘A New Dawn.’ Acting Deputy Prime Minister Sikhumbuzo Dlamini delivering his speech during the awards acknowledged Nothando Hlophe’s win stating: “Just six days ago, on Sunday, the 23rd of history was made when Nothando Hlophe won the 2025 Best of Africa award. Tonight, as the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini, we honour her for this podium finish,” he said while presenting her with a cheque of E20 000.
Her landmark album, ‘A New Dawn’, has not only enjoyed widespread critical acclaim, but has also proven to be a commercial juggernaut, with the standout track, ‘Methodist Medley’, already amassing 3.3 millions of views on YouTube.
In her acceptance speech, delivered to a standing ovation, Hlophe was visibly emotional, dedicating her awards to her fans and the spiritual community. “This is not just a win for me; it is a win for you, Thank you for supporting this journey and for believing in the calling upon my life. May God bless you all,” she said.
With her remarkable achievement at the NGMAs, Nothando Hlophe has not just added more trophies to her cabinet; she has set a new benchmark for excellence in Eswatini Gospel music.
