MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows has officially secured the Somhlolo National Stadium for their upcoming showdown against Nsingizini Hotspurs.
According to sources, the ‘Birds’ requested the iconic venue for this league clash, marking a significant return to the spiritual home of Eswatini football. This comes as the venue was recently announced for booking at a fee of E10 000 for teams wishing to secure it for a home match, a price point that has seen some local clubs decry the cost.
The MTN Premier League headliner is scheduled for a 3pm kick-off this Sunday. It promises to be an enthralling encounter, especially given the history between these two sides; the ‘Beautiful Birds’ soared to a 1-0 victory in the first round at Nsingizini’s backyard, the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, back on January 17.
“Yes, we confirm that we have booked Somhlolo National Stadium for our match against Nsingizini Hotspurs FC. We extend our appreciation to the Ministry of Sports for accepting and approving our request,” said Mbabane Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya.
Ngwenya has stressed that Somhlolo National Stadium is ideal for this match.
“We call upon Mbabane Swallows FC supporters, fans and admirers as well as football followers to come in numbers and pack Somhlolo National Stadium.
“We urge all supporters to buy tickets in all PLE selected outlets. No tickets will be sold at the gates. To avoid delays and long queues we encourage supporters to come ready with the tickets as buying on the match day may result in network glitches.”
Each match ticket costs E40 only.
Somhlolo National Stadium has been under an intense spotlight since 2019. The venue was closed for extensive renovations after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned it from hosting international matches.
