MBABANE – A dark cloud is hovering over Eswatini football once again after the passing of another football legend.

Former Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) Chairman Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza is late.

The former Mbabane Dribbling Wizards player’s death comes barely a week after that of David ‘Botsotso’ Manyatsi, the legendary former Mhlume Peacemakers and Manzini Wanderers midfielder.

Manyatsi, who was also a former national team player, succumbed to a short illness at the Luke Commission and was buried on Sunday at Lwandle, on the outskirts of Manzini. Siboza’s passing was confirmed by his brother, Milton ‘Gearbox’ Khoza.

“He died on Monday morning around 7:30am at Ka-Shali, as per the information I received from the children,” Khoza said.

The former elite league referee revealed that Siboza had been unwell for about two weeks.

“We are still arranging the funeral logistics, but for now, the burial is anticipated to be on Sunday at KaKhuphuka,” he added.

Current MRFA Chairman Vusie Hall expressed his sadness at the news of Siboza’s passing, disclosing that it came at a time when they were considering making him an honourary chairman of the Manzini FA.

“I am truly shattered by this. Siboza is the one who introduced and groomed me. He taught me a lot about the sport as he believed in my capabilities,” Hall said.
