MATSAPHA – In a move to fight cross border crime and improve the judiciary, Swaziland and South Africa will today sign a  Mem-orandum of Understanding (MoU).

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Ndumiso Mamba said money laundering was one of the crimes they were targeting.
He said this when welcoming his South African counterpart, Jeff Radebe, yesterday at the Matsapha International Airport. Mamba said such an agreement would assist both countries in tracking such crimes.

He said they would be signing a lot more other agreements that will strengthen the countries’ bilateral relationship.
Mamba said these agreements would come in handy as the country is currently formulating a Commission for Human Rights.

Units such as the Anti-Corruption, the police and the judiciary stand to benefit from the relationship, said Mamba.
In response, Radebe said the signing of the agreements would ensure that fighting crime would be taken to another level.
“I believe that this is the first step in a journey to fight criminals in the SADC region. Crime should not be tolerated.
“As ministers of justice, we have to make sure that the legal frameworks are in place,” he said.
