'Landers to complain about Mbongiseni
MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders have vowed to lodge a complaint against referee Mbongiseni Fakudze who they felt failed to handle Sunday’s derby against Mbabane Swallows.
The ‘Black Bull’ PRO, Dumisani Sibandze, said they would follow in the footsteps of other premier league teams who have complained about certain referees.
He said that the referee was inconsistent in his decisions throughout the game.
“We have resolved to formally complain about Mbongiseni who we feel should take a break from officiating in our games.
Other teams complained about certain referees and they did not take part in Sunday’s game,” he said.
He came hard on the pint-sized whistleman who he alleged instigated the violence that erupted as Highlanders supporters clashed with police and Mbabane Swallows marshals over a bib by goalkeeper Thokozani Mkhulisi.
“The bib could be seen from a distance but the same referee who had earlier ordered our goalkeeper to remove his water bottle position, found it normal to have the bib there.
“I wouldn’t want to complain about the goal because the referee’s decision is final, but again they must know that while we are not experts, we are also not ignorant on some aspects of the game. He should take a break from officiating in our games,” he said.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of Swallows. Some fans, club officials sustained injuries in the skirmish that lasted for about 15 minutes.
