No ways says Malanti on players' suspension
MBABANE – Following the suspen sion of four of their key players by the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS), Malanti Chiefs are not taking the matter lying down.
The four players, skipper Raphael Ntimane, Sandile Motsa, Nhlanhla ‘Mshengu’ Kunene and Sifiso ‘CJ’ Dlamini were suspended for failing to report to the national team, Sihlangu camp. Malanti have since appealed to have the suspension lifted ahead of the crucial SwaziBank Cup quarterfinal against Green Mamba on Sunday.
All four players will not be eligible to feature for their team or Sihlangu until April 2 when the suspension ends.
Malanti yesterday wrote a letter to the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) requesting them to apologise to the FA on their behalf. They have even submitted proof in the form of doctor’s reports that two of their players, Raphael and CJ were injured while Mshengu and Sandile Motsa are attending school.
Malanti manager Vusi ‘Shoes’ Dlamini confirmed yesterday that they had appealed against the suspension of the players with the PLS and also urged the organisation to apologise on their behalf.
He said they were shocked about the suspension and noted that it will greatly affect them in their SwaziBank Cup run and in the MTN League.
“The team did not refuse to release the players and we are still shocked that the FA never tried to contact us on the players. They just served us with the suspension letter. We are not going to compete fairly against the teams,” he said.
