Khanyisile Primary rules in judo schools championships
MBABANE – Khanyisile Primary are the leaders of the Swaziland Judo Schools Championships.
They are leading in both girls and boys section. The Swaziland Judo Federation successfully hosted their first of four tournaments for 2010 at Sydney Williams on Saturday. The tournament was attended by 126 players from the more than 10 schools.
In the boys section, Mbabane Club finish second with 245 points, only 15 points away from the leaders, Khanyisile.
Delanie Abner from Simunye delivered the shock of the tournament after beating more fancied and experienced Ysabella Conway from Mbabane Club in the boys section. In the girl’s category, Hannah Hopf from Mbabane won a gold and a silver medal.
Some of the boys who excelled during the tournament included Senkosi Simelane, Frederick de Koker, Unami Martins, Jonathan Lvkoj, Sibuliso Mdluli, Lindumenzi Dludlu, Mduduzi Hlophe, Robin Shields, Sakhile Zwane, Lindokuhle Dlamini, Blake Lister and Lindo Mabila. All this players won in their respective divisions.
Players who shone in the girls divisions were Sally James, Helen Olivier, Acacia McHardy, Robyn Forte, Jenny Quinton, Joelle Rehmeyer and Valencia Matsebula.
The Judo technical director Lucky Metfula said the next league tournament will be held at Sydney Williams in May.
“On March 27, judo will host an open tournament at Bosco Skills Centre, Manzini. The players who will qualify for the open tournament will be informed by their coaches,” he said.
Some of the countries who have confirmed their participation include South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique.
