MBABANE – Plans on having the ultimate winners of the ‘Siyakhula More’ Schools Choral competition participating in South Africa are in the pipeline.

This was confirmed by the secretary of the organising committee Albert Sihlongonyane, who also mentioned that this development was a way of elevating choral music status in Swaziland.

"Swazi choral music has by far developed in various ways and we are therefore planning on taking the final winners of this weekend’s competition to South Africa for other related competitions. Though I wouldn’t want to divulge on the actual personnel we are involved with, I would confirm that we’ve sent a proposal to them and they’ve shown interest so far," he said.

Sihlongonyane went on to say that they have invited the South African choral music representatives to this year’s national music competition set to start this coming Thursday.

"It has been quite a number of years since Swaziland has taken part in international choral competitions. Since our inception in 2001, this has not happened and this is the reason we want revive the pride within the choral music community,’ he ended.
