Madigage to start academy at Mahlalini
MBABANE – SuperSport United assistant coach Thomas Madigage has clinched a deal with Shiselweni II constituency to start a Youth Academy.
The former FC Zurich and Jomo Cosmos player has met with the leadership of Mahlalini chiefdom where the centre will be located. In fact, he spent the whole of last week in the country on invitation by the pioneer of the project MP Benedict Xaba who is also Minister of Health.
Xaba said they had agreed terms with Madigage who he said is expected to return for further talks before the commencement of the Absa Premiership in South Africa late this month.
"He will be starting a fully fledged academy that would focus on developing players from as young as Under-10, 14 and 15. The academy will be linked to SuperSport United F.C in Pretoria," he said.
He said they were finalising logistic talks with the Pretoria based side.
"This week we will be meeting SuperSport United Youth Academy director over the matter after concluding talks with Madigage. We are already looking forward to the start of the project that will be very soon," he said.
The minister said they would be starting a senior league at the area which will be part of the development. SuperSport United runs one of the most successful youth academes in South Africa.
It has produced players such as Kermit Erasmus, Mazi-busane Zongo to name but a few.
