…with hip hop MC Whizz Kid
Everywhere he goes they call
him ‘Whizz’ and that is the guy
behind the music video titled ‘To the Top’ which is gearing massive air play in one of the country’s television stations Channel Swazi.
His real name is Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, he is a Virgo residing at Sidwashini South.
He completed his high school at Mbabane Central. He adores Hip Hop, but he was also a good soccer player at school. He is a Graphic Designer by profession apart from being a hip hop artist.
STYLE had a chat with him to find out more about his life and career.
STYLE: Can you describe yourself?
WHIZZ: I’m a sociable yet conspicuous from far but a very nice person once you get to know me.
STYLE: Now tell us about your music Video
WHIZZ: Well in the video I’m writing lyrics then I fall asleep while writing, then I have a dream about the video, hence the concept.
STYLE: Where was it shot, and when?
WHIZZ: It was shot around Mbabane last month (August) and some of the video vexes were dressed by Willybams hip-hop clothing shop
STYLE: What projects have you done and which places have you performed at?
WHIZZ: I have a mixed tape that was released last year on the 6th of September and is titled ‘The Independence Day’ because I felt it’s a day when we set Hip hop free as well in the Kingdom. I’ve performed at Esibayeni Lodge ,Cafe Mogambo last year on new years eve, Mpumalanga hip hop festival, Cafe de Flore and a lot of other places in Pretoria and during the opening of the MTN fan park at Prince of Wales.
STYLE: What has been the highlight of your hip hop career?
WHIZZ: I don’t have one yet because with every person I meet I learn something different but moments like curtain raising for South African stars Pro-kid and Psyfo were amazing
STYLE: Since you love hip-hop so much, what are your favourite tracks locally and internationally?
WHIZZ: Locally its Siyinqaba’s Gwayimane and internationally its Notorious B.I.G
STYLE: Where do you see yourself in five years?
WHIZZ: Honestly with the way music is going for me I’ll be one of the best hip-hop producers in Swaziland
STYLE: When is your next project coming out?
WHIZZ: November this year

WHIZZ: The public can get it at Crazy Monkey Hip-hop clothing shop here in Mbabane.
