Coaches Koki', Caleb in Sihlangu Brain trust'
MBABANE – Sihlangu have fortified its technical bench by adding three top flight coaches to assist in preparations during the course of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The trio of Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini, and Caleb Ngwenya has been engaged by Sihlangu’s head coach, Musa ‘Magic’ Zwane in a bid to strengthen the technical bench and close any gaps that may exist during the qualifiers.
Sihlangu’s head coach, confirmed that he has the three coaches in his programme and would be calling them up from time to time. "They are not joining Sihlangu per se but I do consult them and they will continue to be on call," he said.
Sihlangu play Congo Brazzaville in Congo on Sunday, and are expected to play Sudan at home next month. Sihlangu’s manager, Comfort Shongwe confirmed that the three coaches have agreed to join the squad, on call basis. He said their role would be similar to that played by Sipho Dube, who assisted in the goalkeeping department and Fritz Selbea, who worked on the players psychological preparedness.
"The coach is very happy to have them on board, and we are optimistic that their input will go a long way in helping the team improve," he said. ‘Magiyane’ coaches Mhlambanyatsi Rovers in the MTN league, while ‘Koki’ is with Manzini Wanderers. Caleb is the head coach at Midas Mbabane City in the National First Division, and is also in charge of the National Under-20 squad. Unlike the two other coaches, Caleb has previously not been attached to Sihlangu.
