Suspects face 7 charges
MATSAPHA – The two men who were arrested for an attempted heist are facing seven counts.
The suspects, Sipho Jabu Khumalo Dube (34) and Pascal Modibe both of Alexandra, South Africa, are said to have been part of six armed men who forced off the road a cash-in transit vehicle on Monday.
Dube and Modibe were arrested about an hour after having failed to retrieve the money from the armoured Swaziland Security Guards vehicle.
According to a source close to the matter, the pair was found hiding in a bush near the Great Usutu River by police with the assistance of sniffer dogs.
Yesterday, the South Africans appeared before Magistrate Phathaphatha Mdluli at an almost empty Matsapha Magistrate Court which is situated at Sigodvweni Police Station.
They were represented by Sifiso Jele from Mabila Attorneys.In a court appearance that lasted for less than five minutes, Magistrate Mdluli remanded the suspects back into custody until Wednesday pending their application for bail.
