DD Cool quits DJs Competition
MBABANE – Mdumseni Simelane is no longer organising the much anticipated DJs Competition.
Simelane’s partner DJ Snoop is surprised by his action.
Simelane was one of the main facilitators of the contest after teaming up with DJ Snoop. The competition was initially scheduled to start last November, and 40 deejays were expected to compete for the prize money of E10 000.
"I’ve since decided to step aside because of other commitments," he said, adding that he did not have the time required for organising the competition. "I believe Snoop will carry on from here.
Simelane was the coordinator and promoter liaising with the media.
The competition did not materialise last year at Etjeni Club and was eventually postponed because deejays were busy due to the festive season. Several DJs had already paid the E100 participation and registration fee.
"Let me discuss the matter with him first and I can give a full comment later," said the DJ.
"He wants me to continue, but there has to be an agreement in place," Simelane said in reference to Snoop. "But I think we will meet and discuss it before we can issue a comprehensive statement next week," he added.
When DJ Snoop was sought for comment, he seemed to be in the dark.
"That is news to me," Snoop responded when asked about Simelane’s quitting. He said he only understood that both of them were still together and planning about the future prospects of the competition.
DJs who had already registered include Dr P, Tibza, Mixmash, Big Fizz, Chuidy, MaVree, Mad Max, Romeo, Karly B, Waar Waars, X-tacy, 711, Deenox and Silver Bullet.
