If you can't take punches, on't throw them

Sir,

It seems that there are people in whose blood hatred, hypocrisy and biasness run thick. As the fighting continued in the Gaza Strip, there were demonstrations in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Khartoum Sudan and elsewhere. What I found surprising and sometimes foolishness is that while Hasan al-Bashir was making headways in his genocide expedition in Darfur, those so-called Moslems cheered him on. Not a single Moslem took to the street to protest the bloody killing of innocent people there. The South Africans also turned a blind eye to the plight of their fellow Africans in Darfur, maybe because those people are less human beings compared to the Palestinians hence a protest was unwarranted.

But when their Moslem brothers in the Palestinian authority are repaid with the same violence they perpetrate, they take to the streets making rowdy noise and hoping that by such they will influence the opinion of the international community; they are mistaken. They must show impartiality if they want to be taken seriously, otherwise these protests will save nothing excerpt exhaling hot air and relieving their domestic frustrations. Why does al-Bashir have to kill over 300 000 people in Darfur when they care so much about life of the Palestinians?

Why didn’t they protest the genocide in Darfur to prove that they are against any kind of oppression? The South Africans in particular are proving to be expert hypocrites in that, mid last year al-Bashir (the president of Sudan) visited South Africa where he was treated given the red carpet treatment.

How many South Africans protested his visit? Who called on former president Thabo Mbeki to expel the Sudanese ambassador because of the unparallel brutality he (Hasan al-Bashir) is visiting on the people of Darfiur? Not a single South African took to the street to protest.

So, why such hypocrisy and biasness now that the Palestinians who are a constant thorn to the body of the Israelis are repaid with their violence? Why should the international community take these protests seriously when they turn a blind eye to other violence even violence meted out against their fellow Africans? Shame! The only warranted response to these protests I think should be perfect ignorance because they also prefer ignorance when the people of Darfur are murdered. They also pretend as if they don’t see when rockets are fired into Israel by the Palestinians. What I find even to be contributing to the biasness is that Moslems consider themselves to be first class human beings while non Moslems are considered second class hence the lack of protests when non Moslems are murdered by Moslems in Darfur, Turkey, Israel, Nigeria, Iraq and in other places. Moslems should not fool themselves into believing that their hypocrisy and biasness is not noticed. And this is the kind of attitude that makes non Moslems sympathize not with the Palestinians or any other Moslem.

Besides this, we know of the hatred perpetrated by Moslems against Israel and their friends. Until Moslems and anyone concerned about the Middle East conflict learn to be impartial in this matter, all these demonstrations and protests will serve no purpose. It is not that I condone violence against the Palestinians but with need to fully understand the cause of the conflict and who is really violent rather than closing one eye is when the Palestinians commit violence and murder when Israel retaliate. This is not fair and it won’t work.
