SNCAC's Bongani arrested for drink-driving
MBABANE – Chairman of the Swaziland National Council of Arts culture (CEO) Bongani Mamba was arrested on Saturday for drink-driving.
An impeccable source who preferred anonymity told this publication that Mamba was on his way home when the Sigodvweni Police stopped him along the Airport-Police junction. Assistant Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Steven Dlamini confirmed the incident.
“A report into the arrest due to driving under the influence of alcohol of a man in his mid 30s was compiled during the early hours of Saturday morning by the Sigodvweni police,” he said.
Dlamini said the man whom he identified as Mamba, appeared before a Manzini magistrate on the same dayand was found guilty of the charge.
“He was set free after paying a fine of E1500,” he said.
The magistrate could not be identified at the time of compiling this report. Interestingly, Mamba was on Friday night spotted at Cafe de Flore during a show featuring DJ Oskido. Efforts to get a comment from Mamba proved futile as his mobile phone rang unanswered when called yesterday between 1:40 and 1:50pm.
