I could have saved Wacko Jacko
Today STYLE brings you not just the country’s ambassador in Nelspruit, but a future cardiologist or heart surgeon who believes that at a different time and place she might have been able to save the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, who died of a heart attack over a week ago.
Nomalungelo Dlamini was two weeks ago crowned Miss Cef-ups Academy First Princess at an event held at the school in Nelspruit, South Africa.
Nomee, as she is known to her friends, is doing Grade 12, popularly known as Matric and dreams of going to Wits University where she wants to study medicine and specialise in Cardiology.
The 18-year-old beauty completed her high school locally at Bahai and says it was tough to adjust to hostel life at first.
“I was not used to being naked around so many people or even being away from home for such a long time, but I am used to it now,” she said.
Nomee is currently on holiday and said this was the first time she had joined a beauty pageant. She was beaten to the crown by South African Kgomotso Maseko, but she is not bitter about it. “I joined and I did very well, which shows that in life nothing is impossible,” she said.
Eight other Swazi girls who attend the academy had also joined the competition, but she is pleased that she was the one who got to represent Swaziland.
Nomee said her favourite subjects are Math and anything to do with sciences and she says of her school it is the best as it prepares its students for varsity life.
As part of her duties, Nomee says she wants to shake up the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign as many individuals still did not consider it a serious disease.
“I have a relative that I have watched both fight and suffer with the disease and I want to push this drive,” she said.
Like most teenagers, the sweet faced beauty says she enjoys hanging out with her friends and listens to rapper Lil Wayne and South Africa’s Loyiso whenever she can.
Nomee says she does not have a boyfriend and was not looking either. A Sagittarian, born on December 17, she says men should not look to her either as she had no time for them- at least not as yet.
She only has one flaw and that is she chews on her finger nails but says “what’s expected of a future cardiologist, there’s too much thinking involved”.
