MBABANE – Gospel artist Nhlanhla ‘Godolude’ Dlamini is dead.

Dlamini was found dead inside a friend’s house at the Matsapha Correctional Services yesterday morning.

This was confirmed by His Majesty’s Correctional Services Commissioner, Isaiah Mzuthini Ntshangase. The cause of death could not be ascertained by the time of going to press.

He is said to have passed on yesterday at about 9am.

Information gathered is that Dlamini did not display any signs of discomfort or ill-health when he got to his friend’s house. The officer is said to have left for duty that morning, leaving him in the house.

According to the commissioner it is suspected that Dlamini was involved in a fight earlier as bruises were later discovered on his body.

The deceased hails from Mbikwakhe, Matsapha. "When the police were called the deceased was found with froth around his mouth which fuelled speculation on what could have led to his death," said Ntshangase.

The commissioner said the deceased’s next of kin had been informed. "Police were called to the scene where they took pictures," he said.

The deceased had worked with a number of artists such as Frans Dlamini as a backing vocalist, Itallo and Zaza among others. He was working on his solo album.

He also performed during the recent Swaziland International Trade Fair. His last performance was on Saturday at the Mpaka Railway Hall during a fund-raising event for the African Evangelical Church (AEC) in Malindza where he performed alongside Police Gospel Messengers and Back II God.

His manager, identified as Nolwazi, said she would only comment on the matter after she has met with the deceased’s family.
