MBABANE – Orchard Insurance has announced a strategic partnership with the Makoti Festival, headlined by a E100 000 sponsorship fund designated for a raffle draw.

The partnership was solidified during a formal handover ceremony held at the Orchard Insurance offices on March 20, where Managing Director Joseph Museva presented the commemorative cheque to festival organisers.

The E100 000 contribution from Orchard Insurance is designated exclusively for a special raffle draw intended to benefit festival attendees on May 2. The prize pool is divided into three significant cash rewards:

Position Prize

First                      E50 000

Second                E30 000

Third                    E20 000

Beyond the cash prizes, Orchard Insurance is providing insurance value to Phase three ticket holders. Every attendee who purchases a ticket through official platforms and completes the registration process will receive 12 months of Orchard Funeral Cover valued at E5 000.

The policy terms specify a six-month waiting period for natural death. However, this waiting period is waived for accidental death, meaning registered participants are covered for accidental fatalities immediately upon the commencement of the policy.

Organisers have confirmed a shift in the festival schedule this year. Originally slated for April 25, the Makoti Festival will this year take place on May 2 at the Malkerns Country Club.

Participation in the raffle and the insurance offer is subject to specific criteria:

  • Ticket Tier: Exclusively open to individuals who purchase Phase three tickets.
  • Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years or older.
  • Registration: Holders must register on a link soon to be made available after purchasing their tickets through any official platform to activate their insurance cover and raffle entry.
  • Timeline: The entry period opened on March 1 and will officially close on the day of the event, May 2.

During the handover, Museva expressed confidence in the longevity of this collaboration. He stated that the company believes this partnership will continue to grow and extend into the following years, signalling an interest in supporting the cultural event.

Thembinkosi Mthethwa, an executive member in the cultural festival, expressing his excitement on behalf of the team, stated that “this collaboration is setting a new standard for festivals in Eswatini, where entertainment, empowerment and community value converge” he said.

The Makoti Festival serves as a platform for cultural celebration and this year’s integration of financial prizes and insurance security marks a shift in the scale of corporate involvement for the event. Tickets for the cultural event are available through online platforms including Howler, Moja Ticket, Computicket and the festival’s official website. Phase one and two tickets are sold out.

Makoti Festival returns for the fifth edition on May 2,2026 at the Malkerns Country Club. The festival is a full day of live music, fashion and cultural exchange that celebrates Southern Africa’s creative brilliance and global spirit. The fourth edition of the Makoti Festival was successfully held on  April 26, 2025, also at the Malkerns Country Club, headlined by local and international acts.

The event brought together local artists as well as DJs and outside talent from four countries; South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana and Mozambique.

Since its inception in April 2022, the Makoti Festival has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated festivals.

The 2026 Makoti Festival continues its mission as a family-oriented cultural celebration rooted in Eswatini traditions. The festival honours women married, unmarried and young girls preparing for their future roles as makotis. Genres such as Gospel and Hip Hop remain central to the festival's diverse musical programme.
