MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows go into this afternoon’s MTN Premier League encounter with a double mission, to avenge last season’s defeat and to tighten their hold on top spot.
The ‘Birds’ will host Ezulwini United at the Mavuso Sports Centre, determined to settle the score after suffering a 2–0 loss to the same opponents on February 23, 2025, a result that denied them a top-five finish last term.
Swallows are currently top of the log with nine points from four matches, having enjoyed a perfect start to the campaign. Another victory today would see them stretch their lead to 12 points and cementing their dominance at the summit.
Coach Caleb Ngwenya, a league title-winning tactician, will once again rely on the experience of Captain Newman Philiso, creative winger Bongi ‘Karas’ Magagula and midfielder Lizwe ‘Benny’ Dlamini to deliver a repeat of their thrilling 3–2 win over last season’s runners-up, Royal Leopard.
Ezulwini United, sitting ninth on the table with five points, have quietly built momentum under Coach Musa Manyatsi. The side remains unbeaten in their last three outings — drawing 1-all with Malanti Chiefs, edging Moneni Pirates by one goal to zero and sharing the spoils in a goalless draw with Ubombo Sugar.
For Ezulwini, a win this afternoon would push them as high as third in the standings, adding further significance to the clash. Manyatsi will depend on the leadership of Captain Mphucuko ‘Smoothies’ Dlamini, alongside the industrious Kwenzokuhle Khumalo and Bandile Zwane, who will be tasked with breaking down Swallows’ strong defensive line.
