MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers stole the show as the biggest winners in the National Women’s League this past Saturday.
The maroon and white outfit delivered a crushing 11-0 hammering to Red Rhinos in a completely one-sided match.
The rout took place during Wanderers’ fourth league fixture, staged at Tambankulu Stadium. The Manzini-based side, looking sharp in their pink and white strip, were led by a sensational performance from striker Lindiwe Dlamini, who was the standout player, netting a remarkable six-goal haul at various intervals throughout the game. Her teammate, Siphokazi Ngcamphalala, was equally clinical, securing a hat-trick. The massive tally was rounded off by single goals from April Butler and Mpilonhle Sibandze, totalling the final score of 11.
The ‘Weslians Ladies’ celebrated a dominant victory, while the hosts, Red Rhinos, were unable to manage even a consolation goal. Following this decisive win, Wanderers now boast seven points from four games, having suffered only one defeat since the new season campaign began.
Elsewhere, the day’s results highlighted a rough start for Hlasela Bhejane, whose best result in four games remains a draw.
In a simultaneous fixture, defending champions Young Buffaloes stretched their flawless winning dominance, dispatching Sidwashini United with a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
Additionally, Royal Leopard secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Matsapha Roses. The two sides had reportedly gone into the break with the match goalless, having both pushed for a breakthrough in the second half. It was Phumzile Dlamini who finally made the difference for Royal Leopard, scoring a late winner with a clinical finish that separated the teams in the dying minutes of the game.
