MBABANE – Anglers in Eswatini are getting ready to cast their lines once again, as the country’s national team spots are on the line.
The Eswatini Angling Association (EAA) will host a national team selection competition on October 18-19, 2025, at the Mnjoli Dam outside Mliba in the Manzini Region. This event will be used to determine anglers who will represent the nation in upcoming international competitions.
The announcement follows the recent Maguga Mega Bass Competition, where 11-year-old Carter McKenzie secured his second title. McKenzie first won the event at the age of nine.
EAA’s William Brown outlined the eligibility requirements for prospective national team members. Anglers must be affiliated with a local club and consistently pay a E50 fee to the EAA. They must also pay club affiliation and subscription fees, including an annual subscription of E1 000. “The national team event is only for those who have paid to fish in Eswatini,” Brown explained.
