BUHLENI – Emajukujuku have finally secured promotion to the MulaSport National First Division (NFD).

The former Ingwenyama Cup regional winners defeated Mvembili Sundowns 2-0 in the Sunny HRFA play-off second leg at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre yesterday to advance 3-0 on aggregate. The Lobamba-based side have finally bid farewell to the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) after three successive attempts.

Ernest Sakala’s team went into the match with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg. The contest began at a frantic pace as both sides chased an early opener, though chances proved elusive in the opening exchanges.

Mvembili Sundowns goalkeeper Innocent Dlamini produced two crucial saves to deny Emajukujuku the goal they needed 10 minutes in.

The Lobamba outfit’s Lukhetfo Dladla then unleashed a shot from distance, which was parried into the path of Siphosethu Sikhondze, but he too was denied his second goal of the play-offs.

Sikhondze had scored the winner in the first leg at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground two weeks ago.

Emajukujuku eventually broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when Sikhondze tapped home his second goal of the play-offs to make it 2-0 on aggregate.

The match went to the breather with the visitors enjoying the slender 1-0 lead.

The second half saw Amajukujuku adding more gas on the pedal as they wanted to bury the match. However, they were reduced to 10 men, when Mthobisi Khumalo was given a red card for a second bookable offence.

Mvembili thought to have scored an equaliser five minutes before regulation time when Sive Mamba’s goal was choked off for a suspected foul.
