MBABANE – Excitement is building as Green Lightning’s men’s and women’s teams prepare to test themselves against Southern Africa’s finest in Botswana.
Green Lightning Netball Club will send both its men’s and women’s teams to the seventh edition of the Find The Ball Netball Tournament, set for July 17-20 at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Centre in Gaborone.
This is as per their official social media platform on Facebook.
The regional showpiece carries lucrative rewards, with the women’s elite champions set to pocket BWP50 000 (approximately E60 659.24), while the men’s winners will walk away with BWP30 000 (about E36 395.55).
The Eswatini side will be among clubs from across Southern Africa battling for honours in a tournament that continues to grow in stature and competitiveness.
For the women’s team, the challenge will be particularly demanding as they come up against some of Botswana’s established forces.
Among the confirmed entrants is UB Crystals, a rising side that recently secured silver medals in Botswana’s Division B League and will enjoy home-court advantage at the tournament venue.
Also expected to provide stiff competition are Botswana Police Netball Club’s Jungle Queens, one of the country’s most recognised women’s teams, as well as Prisons Netball Club, whose women’s side recently claimed the Division B championship.
The men’s team will also face a stern examination against regional opposition. Botswana Police’s Police Jaguars, runners-up in the 2025 Find The Ball Tournament, are among the teams expected to challenge for the title, while Prisons’ senior men’s side arrives with a reputation for consistency in league competition.
Tournament organisers have urged clubs to confirm participation early, citing limited spaces and growing interest in the competition.
For Green Lightning, the tournament presents more than an opportunity to chase prize money. It offers both teams a platform to measure their progress against some of the region’s strongest clubs, gain valuable experience and fly the Eswatini flag on an international stage.
With over E97 000 in combined prize money up for grabs across the men’s and women’s elite categories, Green Lightning’s men and women will head to Gaborone determined to make their mark and return home with silverware.
