LOBAMBA – As floodlights dimmed on another thrilling campaign, Hleliso ‘Muah’ Gamedze emerged from Royal Leopard’s revival with goals, glory and E14 000 in reward.
MTN Premier League 2025/26 season top scorer Hleliso ‘Muah’ Gamedze believes a full pre-season programme was the key behind his devastating form in front of goal.
The prolific Royal Leopard forward finished the campaign with 18 league goals according to Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) statistics, earning himself E14 000 before tax as the division’s leading marksman.
Gamedze, who was playing only his third season in the top flight, joined Ingwemabalala from Rangers at the start of the second round as a replacement for Mohammed Anas and quickly became one of the league’s deadliest finishers.
“I am delighted to have taken this award this season. Earlier on, I was at school, which meant I did not take part in pre-season preparations. I think that changed a lot for me this season and it helped me greatly,” said Gamedze.
Despite a difficult opening to the season, Royal Leopard recovered to secure a top-eight finish with 44 points. However, the side fell short of qualifying for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Gamedze dethroned Green Mamba striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, who had dominated the scoring charts for nearly four seasons. Ndzinisa endured an unusually quiet campaign, ending with fewer than 12 goals.
The Royal Leopard talisman was closely pursued by Malangeni ‘Mashumi’ Dlamini of Tabankulu Celtics, who netted 15 goals. Dlamini expressed joy despite being so near yet so far.
