MBABANE – Renowned golfers from across Europe are expected to tee off in the prestigious FNB Golf this week.
The FNB Golf Challenge, which is a Sunshine Tour-sanctioned event, is scheduled to take place between Thursday and Saturday at the Ezulwini Golf and Country Club. The prize fund for the event is a whopping E2 million along with 2 400 points.
Headlining the list of 13 entries from Europe is Peter Karmis from Greece, who is the 2023 champion.
Karmis has been a professional since 2004. In the 2002/03 season, he was the leading amateur at the South African Open Championship after he tied 69th with Nic Henning on three-over-par 291.
According information sourced from the Sunshine Tour website, Karmis has two Lombard Insurance Classic titles (2007 and 2009), two Sun International victories (Sibaya 2016 and Sun City 2017), the Investec Royal Swazi Open 2017, a Vodacom Origins of Golf title (Selborne 2018) and the FNB Eswatini Challenge in 2023. His international record is highlighted by his Handa Singapore Classic win on the Asian Tour in 2010 and his Elite Grips Challenge triumph on the Japan Challenge Tour in 2019. Karmis represented Greece in the World Cup of Golf in 2018.
Another notable golfer from Europe, who will take to the greens, will be Fredrik From from Sweden. The Swede started the 2024/25 season with some remarkable results.
