MBABANE – In a major benefit for regional sports, Eswatini has received a substantial donation of basketball equipment.
The consignment, worth an impressive E2.1 million, comes from Region V Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stanley Muthoya and will also benefit South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. The presentation took place at the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, where Muthoya stressed the importance of fostering a closer relationship with member countries.
Muthoya revealed that Eswatini has been allocated 290 basketballs. This includes 250 balls for conventional 5-on-5 basketball and an additional 40 for the increasingly popular 3x3 format. This generous gesture aims to accelerate the development of the sport across the benefitting nations.
