MBABANE – In the future, the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) will be more cautious when hiring a foreign coach for Sihlangu.
This is according to EFA President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane. Simelane said this would be done to ensure that international coaches fulfil all the duties and responsibilities expected of them. Currently, he noted, there is a ‘void’ that allows them to escape accountability.
The EFA president made this comment on Saturday when asked about the reasoning behind hiring a non-liSwati coach whose services are only restricted to the national team.
During Saturday’s election campaign, some delegates felt that the EFA was too lenient with international coaches, citing the recent incident involving current Coach Zdravko Logarusic, who made headlines two months ago for working with a Saudi team while still contracted to the EFA.
The delegates were disgruntled, feeling that foreign coaches do not empower local coaches to grow and that decisive action was required.
However, Simelane conceded that part of a foreign coach’s role should be to help strengthen local coaching capabilities.

Address conflict of interest – ‘Bhanyaza’
MBABANE – PLE Executive Committee member Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli has urged the incoming EFA executive to address the issue of conflict of interest in elections.
Mdluli believes some delegates have a conflict of interest ahead of Sunday’s Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA) 2025-2029 executive elections. The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE0 senior official consistently questioned some candidates on their stance on the issue, urging them to find a lasting solution if elected.
