Star studded line-up for intervars games
MBABANE – This year’s Intervarsity Games to be staged by the University of Swaziland will be the ‘hottest’ by far because of the star studded entertainment line-up.
South African entertainment kings hip-hop star ProKid, DJ Sbu, DJ Tira, Vetkoek and Mahoota, DJ Andy X and DJ Euphonik are all billed to perform at the event’s welcome and closing bashes at the Mavuso Trade Centre this Saturday and Wednesday night respectively. Some will also perform during the Mr and Miss Intervarsity Games 2010 contest on Sunday night.
The Minister of Entertainment at the university, Banele Gamedze said: “The entertainers have promised revellers an excellent time, so we urge everyone to attend.”
The Intervarsity games are an annual event staged between three host countries; University of Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland. The institutions compete in sports and also engage in arts and cultural activities. In this year’s games, which will be held at UNISWA’s Kwaluseni Campus, PSI Swaziland has been roped in and free Trust condoms will be distributed.
Gamedze said pre-sale tickets for students cost E30 and they come with two packs of Trust condoms. For non-students tickets cost E50 and they will also receive two packs of the Trust condoms.
He said Mr and Miss Intervarsity will be held at Mavuso Trade Centre and the artists to entertain guests on the night are still to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Sihle Ngidi who is part of the organising committee said; “DJs Sbu and Andy X have been sponsored by Trust Condoms and will perform during the welcome bash. Sunday will be rapper ProKid with DJs Vetkoek and Mahoota who are sponsored by MTN Swaziland”.
She continued that DJ Euphonik would perform at Café De Flore on Monday night while DJ Tira will be the main act at the closing bash at Mavuso Trade Centre. On Tuesday Swaziboy spinners would rock fun-lovers at Café De Flore.
“We promise everyone a great week and we urge all students to be a part of this event,” she said.
The university will be represented by Mr and Miss UNISWA 2010/11 Bayeza Manzini and Basego Segaetsho respectively. Both were crowned last Friday.
The Intervarsity Games were held in Botswana last year.
