Phone Network is now terrible

Sir,

I do believe that local public services should benefit the nation, which is the solid and fundamental reason of their provision.

To my keen interest I wish to know why are local services managed by local citizens more horrible and exorbitantly taxing to the public than those provided by international candidates?

Is it because local entrepreneurs are not patriotic? This is very prominent because such a manifestation is more prevalent amongst the highly used and essential services.

To take but a few local public services that are performing horribly, there is telephone network by MTN, electricity provision by SEC, and water provision SWSC. All these public services make me lose confidence in Swazis let alone believing that they are helpful to us. Let’s critically scrutinise the most popular MTN network provider.

No one cannot articulate the fact that this service provider is no longer of benefit to us but a liability. Since the inside brawl over the position of a CEO the nation hasn’t enjoyed the services and products supposedly deserved (singete sakutsini ke vele loko emaSwati ayakutsandza kubanga). The biggest worry stems not from the fact that MTN is or should be run by Swazis, but the current situation in Swaziland and previous experiences repeal the confidence in believing in local capabilities.
No one can rule out the fact that we appreciate empowering local entrepreneurs but they hurt us more than foreign investors do.

If their services are not poor, they are exorbitantly charging the public. With our local network provider the situation is worse because they parade with a poor service and excruciatingly expensive service to the nation.
This conclusion is in comparison with other international service providers availing the same product in other countries.

Now that even the calling discounts have been eliminated we feel the pressure even more.
I do believe MTN is capable of improving the current situation without the presence of competitors. Many people have been calling for more competitors on network not because they hate the present service provider but because the current sole provider is negligent, it does not put the interest of the people it serves forward.

A person who can do that should be a Swazi. But Swazis are very submissive, to select one to do the duty can or cannot make the difference. When God wanted a lasting solution that changed the perception of the filthy earth about him he sent Jesus to die for the people.

The main intention wasn’t just death but was to make the people see him as a capable God to be worshiped.
Maybe one would conclude that it is the reason why most Swazis were advocating for the selection of a local CEO for MTN, to include a person who cares for the nation, a person who will put the interest of the people first or before his employers’ tables.

I also believe so, though this duty is performed by a member committee but we need to be very careful not to select a serpent. Previous experiences show that there very few Swazis who can be real ambassadors. I mean people who can blow the whistle to say; ‘Thuma mina baba’.
And go out there to represent the nation very well.
