Caleb replaces Madze' as Under-20 coach
MBABANE – As exclusively revealed by our sister publication the Times of Swaziland, the national Under-20 squad has a new coach in Caleb Ngwenya.
The changes were annou-nced by FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu yesterday. This means that Umbelebele Cosmos coach Harris ‘Mad-ze’ Bulunga has ceased to lead the team; he has led for the past five years.
Also quitting the team is Penuel Malinga who was the assistant to Bulunga over the past years.
Joining Ng-wenya is incumbent Russian Bombers coach Musa Dlamini who twice led the Swaziland Schools Sports Association (SSSA) squad to gold medals during the COSASSA tourn-aments. Former Mbabane Highlanders ace goalkeeper Sipho Dube completes the three man technical bench.
“The FA has embarked on a serious development progr-amme that would see all national junior squads taking part in international tourn-aments. We have also made changes in the teams includ-ing the Under-20 squad that is preparing for the Metrop-olitan COSAFA Youth Cha-mpionship and the Zone VI games,” he said. The new man in charge Caleb Ngwenya was still not officially infor-med when called yesterday, and promised to comment once he has been officially engaged.
“The CEO has still not said anything to me about that, but having been involved with the Under-17 I do not think I would have a problem,” he said. Former coach Bulunga said they had already recommended in their reports that there should be new people taking over. “I wish the new people a fruitful reign in the team and hope that they will bring in fresh ideas. As for me the task was becoming incr-easingly tough because it was beginning to affect the performance of my team Umbelebele,” he said.
