Big Fish', Ncandweni for World Cup Gospel show
MBABANE- South African based gospel star Sipho Makhabane is amongst the artists that are set to grace the all night World Cup gig next month.
Also on the list is award winning gospel group Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors who are currently promoting their latest album ‘Nikelani Imizimba’.
The event which will take place on June 5 was officially launched on Friday at the Mountain Inn and its main aim is to pray for the soccer spectacular which will be hosted by neighbouring South Africa next month.
The launch was attended by Prince Lindani whose organisation, the Prince Lindani Foundation is now the main sponsor of the show.
The Prince mentioned that the gig was nothing but a good initiative to show that the country is in support of the World Cup and said there was no better way of doing so than through a prayer.
Spicing up the whole event will be a soccer game which will take place during the day and will feature the country’s most supported teams Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Highlanders but the two teams are yet to confirm.
“Since June is the month of the 2010 World Cup we have decided to host the show as a prayer for the success of the soccer spectacular so during the day we want all the soccer fans to come clad in their soccer jerseys and bring their vuvuzelas,” Prince Lindani said and was supported by Mbabane Highlanders winger Khayelihle ‘Karas’ Dlamini.
Gospel lovers will part with E50 at the door while those who will be clad in soccer jerseys and carrying vuvuzelas will be charged less.
In an interview with Makhabane, he confirmed his participation by mentioned that he will only be a guest speaker.
“I will not be performing but will be a guest. I may decide to render one or two songs but that’s not the agreement we had with the organisers,” the award winning gospel icon said.
