MBABANE – Local basketball junior player Gaby Martin got a rare opportunity in Turkey where she spoke on behalf of over 150 participants in the Children of the World camp in Istanbul grand opening.

Martin was chosen ahead of children from countries such as the United States of America (USA), Canada, Britain, and Angola amongst others. She attended the camp with Bonga Nsibandze and Swaziland National Basketball Association (SNBA) Secretary, Bongani Shiba, who will also attend the FIBA Congress after the camp.

The player also got a chance of watching the USA team play against Croatia in the grand opening of the World Championships. They watched basketball stars like Cavin Durandt and Lamor Odon among others.

SNBA President Clement Dlamini said this was great for the player and the country itself. He said its shows that the country is now recognised.

"We are happy with this and it makes us proud. This is one thing that markets the country and the sport itself.

The experience they will get from the camp will benefit the country. They will come back and share the information with their collegues," he said.

Dlamini said even Shiba will be attending the FIBA congress for the first time. The trio is expected back home next week.
