SD gave Sultan suite to Mugabe!
EZULWINI—Revealed: Out of the eight leaders who attended the 40/40 Double Celebrations, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was the most pampered as he was accommodated in the luxurious Sultan Suite at the Royal Villas.
This was revealed on Christmas Day (Thursday) during a lunch hosted by the establishment where one lucky diner won herself a E50 000 worth prize to stay at the Sultan Suite for two nights.
It costs E25 000 to stay in the special suite.
Dissatisfaction
However, the information that Mugabe had stayed in the Sultan Suite did not go down well with the diners and they showed their dissatisfaction by mumbling at the Food and Beverages Manager who had made the announcement.
"The Sultan Suite has hosted great world leaders like former South African President Thabo Mbeki," said the manager, Jackson Mabizela.
He went on to say that Mugabe had stayed in the room and the diners booed him.
Sorry
"I am sorry if I have offended anyone, but what I just wanted to emphasise is that this is the best room that we have," said Mabizela.
The draw was conducted just after a traditional lunch of oxtail and goat held at the Mdzimba Entertainment Centre.
When Mugabe arrived for the Independence celebrations he was received with huge excitement and cheers by the crowd at the Somhlolo National Stadium.
Even on arrival at the Matsapha International Airport, Mugabe had the most crowd and people took pictures of him some using their cell phones.
Some of the leaders who attended the 40-40 Celebrations and stayed in other less grand villas include King Letsie II of Lesotho, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Ian Khama of Botswana, Yuweri Museveni of Uganda and Armando Gebuza of Mozambique amongst others.
