SwaziBank Cup unveils new slogan

MBABANE – A new SwaziBank Cup slogan; Sekunjalo ivutsa bhe, was unveiled yesterday.

This happened during the signing ceremony for this year’s tournament at the bank’s headquarters in Mbabane, where SwaziBank Managing Director (MD) Stanley Matsebula said they decided to come up with the new slogan after discovering that the old one, ‘Like No Other’ had lost its taste.

He said the old slogan has run its mile and that the bank resorted to embark on a new footing aimed at retaining the excitement and further push the country’s best knockout tournament to another level.

"We believe both the media and the public are aware that at this time of the year Sekunjalo ngeSwaziBank! It is like a marula season. Religious drinkers know that at this time of the year they drink nothing but marula," he said.

Since 2005, the tournament has run with the slogan ‘Like No Other’ which did much to bring excitement to the cup that over the years has grown to become the most followed soccer tournament in the country.

Making the tournament exciting has been its long history of upsets that at one time saw two unfashionable sides, Malanti Chiefs and Hub Sundowns contest the finals in 2005.

In the previous five years of the tournament, the country’s two giants Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers have not reached the finals. The best they achieved was reaching the semi-finals in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
