MBABANE – The kingdom’s musicians are increasingly taking proactive steps to safeguard their intellectual property.

The Eswatini Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Society (ESWACOS) recently revealed increased artists registrations, highlighting a growing awareness of the legal protections essential for a sustainable career in the arts.

Among the latest to formalise their creative portfolios are Sancheziey and CY Ndukwemnyama.

The duo visited the ESWACOS offices to officially register their musical works, a move described by the society as a fundamental step towards securing creator rights and ensuring long-term financial stability.

“At ESWACOS, we believe that every artist deserves to be informed, empowered and protected. Copyright registration ensures that your work is legally recognised, safeguarded against unauthorised use and positioned to generate rightful benefits for you as the creator,” the organisation stated via its social media platforms.

Joining them in this professional milestone is the acclaimed Deep House and Electronic producer !Sooks. Known for the hit track ‘Kintsugi,’  !Sooks has solidified his position in the industry by ensuring his extensive catalogue is legally protected. For a producer of his calibre, whose work transcends borders, such registration is vital for tracking international airplay and digital consumption.

The society’s outreach efforts emphasise that intellectual property is not merely an abstract concept but a tangible asset.
