MBABANE – The Eswatini Television Authority (ESTVA) might face a major broadcasting assignment this Sunday, as the Ingwenyama Cup reaches its climax.

The eighth edition of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) Ingwenyama Cup will ignite Somhlolo National Stadium with a vibrant mix of culture and football action, with the finals scheduled for Sunday. His Majesty King Mswati III is expected to grace the occasion, with the eventual winners guaranteed lucrative cash prizes.

According to well-placed sources, the final will be broadcast live on local television. Eswatini TV has already screened about five MTN Premier League matches, which have been ‘Y’ello Sunday’ games. The source further alleged that the Green Mamba versus Nsingizini Hotspurs match will also be aired on SuperSport. However, there will be changes in the broadcast arrangements this year.

“SuperSport will only provide their outside broadcast truck for the Ingwenyama Cup final at Somhlolo National Stadium, with Eswatini TV responsible for recording the footage, which will be fed through the SuperSport truck,” the source said.

In the previous edition, SuperSport handled the entire production, including Lwazi Ziqubu’s interview with the King.

What will happen on Sunday closely aligns with the vision of Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Polycarp Dlamini. During the launch of the half-season broadcast deal, Dlamini expressed his desire for the national broadcaster to own the rights and, in future, sell them to international broadcasters.
