MBABANE – Elite League captains have been handed the responsibility of deciding who walks away with the first-ever E10 000 Players’ Player award.

The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has opened voting for the prestigious MTN Premier League Players’ Player Award, with captains from all member clubs tasked with selecting the season’s standout performer from a seven-man shortlist. This is as per a circular notice shared yesterday across their media platforms.

Unlike other awards determined by coaches, journalists or technical panels, this accolade will be decided exclusively by the players themselves through their team captains. Votes must be submitted by Tuesday, June 9, either electronically or by hand-delivery to the PLE offices.

The winner is guaranteed E10 000 before tax deductions, adding further significance to an award regarded as one of the highest honours in domestic football.

The nominees are Royal Leopard striker Hleliso ‘Muah’ Gamedze, Young Buffaloes duo Bongwa ‘Logwaja’ Matsebula and Mazwi Sihlongonyane, Moneni Pirates forward Senanelo ‘Juju’ Nkambule, Manzini Sea Birds attacker Philani ‘Mkasabuli’ Mkhonto, Mbabane Highlanders’ Siyabonga Mkhonto and Nsingizini Hotspurs’ Kingsley Kwakyi. Notably, the nominees were winners of the Player of the Month Awards.

The shortlist reflects players who consistently delivered throughout the 2025/26 season, with all seven earning recognition through their performances in the league.
