MANZINI – Founder and senior pastor of God Cares Christian Fellowship, Bishop Vusumuzi Makuluve, has confirmed the end of his marriage to Nolwazi Shongwe.

Makuluve, whose two previous marriages ended in divorce, said Shongwe left their matrimonial home after the disagreements, forcing him to pack her belongings and deliver them to where she is currently staying.

“It is true that we have gone separate ways,” he said.

The bishop described the breakdown of the marriage as unfortunate, saying they had entered the union hoping to spend the rest of their lives together.

“I came to the marriage with children and she came with a child, so we were hoping it would work,” he said.

Asked whether the divorce had been formalised, Makuluve said it had not.

“We married through Eswatini Law and Custom, and we had not yet applied for an official marriage certificate from Home Affairs. That delay has worked to our advantage,” he said.

He said their families had intervened in an attempt to resolve the marital problems, but the efforts had proved unsuccessful.

Makuluve declined to disclose the specific reasons for the separation, saying the couple had failed to reach an agreement and that he no longer wanted to reconcile.

“Sehlulekile shem!, and angimfuni vele,” he said, meaning they had failed to make the marriage work and he did not want her back.

The bishop also declined to entertain questions about allegations surrounding the breakdown of the marriage, arguing that some people were making claims without knowing the circumstances.

“People make all sorts of allegations, yet they do not know anything,” he said. Makuluve further claimed that Shongwe was the one who made the matter public by sharing a post on social media.

“She is the one who made the news public by posting something on social media,” he said.

Asked whether he intended to marry again, the bishop said he was not ready to discuss the possibility.

“I will cross the bridge when I get there. For now, I’m not ready to comment on that,” he said.

Efforts to obtain comment from Shongwe were unsuccessful.

However, in social media posts, she wrote the words ‘Sekuphelile’, meaning ‘It is over’.

When friends asked her what had happened, she responded: “Buka ngisho mbamba, ncesini guys, aayi, nami ngehlulekile,” indicating that she, too, had failed to make the relationship work.

The circumstances surrounding the separation remain unclear, as neither party has publicly provided a detailed account of the disagreements that led to the breakdown of the marriage.

Shongwe promised TikTok followers that there would be a live recording, at noon yesterday, but it did not happen.

Bishop Makuluve’s first wife was Nomvumelwano Lukhele. They divorced in 2020 at the Manzini Magistrates Court.

He then married Lindelwa Nombulelo Shongwe in 2020.

Makuluve publicly announced the end of the marriage in May 2025, citing prolonged absences and communication breakdowns.

He remarried later in 2025 (marrying Nolwazi Shongwe in late November 2025).
