MBABANE-The journey towards continental club football glory begins on Thursday, 6 August 2026.
This is when the Preliminary Round draws for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2026/27 take place at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Teams from across the continent will discover their first opponents as they begin their pursuit of a place in the group stages of Africa’s two premier club competitions. Eswatini will be represented by Ingwenyama Cup sponsored by Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) runners-up Green Mamba in the Confederation Cup. Alternatively, Nsingizini will feature in the Champions League after retaining their MTN Premier League title and claiming their first-ever Ingwenyama Cup.
Insingizini Yezulu are making their second appearance at this stage after being eliminated in the second preliminary round by Tanzanian giants Simba SC last year. Meanwhile, Inyok’eluhlazane are returning to the competition having missed out due to budget constraints during the 2024/25 season. The last they played an interclub competition was 2023/24 season, featuring in the Champions League.
Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ntuthuko Dlamini said they would take the draw as it comes.
“We are preparing for the international competition. Each game is played with 11 players on the pitch unless there is a red card. As a result, no matter team we draw, we will give it our best,” Dlamini said.
Both draws will be broadcast live on CAF TV, giving supporters across Africa and beyond the opportunity to follow the opening chapter of another exciting CAF Interclub season.
Preparations are in full swing for these competitions locally with both clubs partaking in a series of friendly matches outside the country. Furthermore, they have started bolstering their squads in anticipation of a long season ahead.
