MBABANE – Spotify’s table charts for South Africa have confirmed that local artist Nothando Hlophe’s track ‘Methodist Medley’ recorded the highest stream count among all Gospel releases in South Africa for every consecutive month from January through August 2026.

Data extracted from the platform’s regional performance charts indicates that the track maintained uninterrupted dominance in monthly streaming totals throughout the eight-month period, establishing it as the most streamed Gospel song in the country year-to-date. The track garnered an initial 100,000 streams within its first seven days of release.

The track is taken from her new album ‘A New Dawn’, which was recorded live on June 7, 2025 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.

The song’s lyrics focus on themes of divine protection and spiritual refuge. The track has also featured across social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, where its sound is used in video clips and user posts, expanding its reach across the region.

This marks another milestone for the local musician in the Gospel music scene, whose career began in church during her childhood. Her professional development included backing vocal arrangements for established Gospel acts, opening for Joyous Celebration with the group Redeem Child and serving as a lead vocalist for the ensemble Women in Praise.

Hlophe launched her solo career in 2016 with her debut album Impilo Yami. Her position in Southern African Gospel music grew further following the release of her single ‘Yebo,’ which earned accolades at the 3rd MTN SWAMA Awards in 2019, including Best Gospel Artist and Song of the Year.
