MATSAPHA — Operations at Eswatini Air have returned to normal following the cancellation of flights on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
The cancellations followed a minor technical issue encountered on Flight RN105, which was scheduled to operate from King Mswati III International Airport to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The same aircraft was scheduled to return to Eswatini later that evening as Flight RN106.
The technical issue resulted in the cancellation of the affected flights, disrupting the travel plans of passengers.
Eswatini Air has since apologised to passengers affected by the cancellations.
“We wish to extend our sincere apology to all our valued customers whose travel itineraries were affected by the cancellation of these flights,” said Eswatini Air General Manager Ndumiso Shongwe.
“Management deeply regrets the inconvenience caused and sincerely appreciates the patience, understanding and cooperation demonstrated by all affected passengers during the disruption.”
Shongwe said the technical issue had since been resolved and that the airline’s flight schedule had returned to normal.
“The airline remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability and customer service, and appreciates the continued trust and support of its valued customers,” he said.
Eswatini Air commenced operations in 2023 and operates direct flights from its hub at King Mswati III International Airport to Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in South Africa, as well as Harare in Zimbabwe and Lusaka in Zambia.
The airline operates two Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, each with a capacity of 50 passengers.
Eswatini Air received the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) Airline of the Year Award for Best Improved in Intra-Africa Connectivity for its 2023 operations.
Eswatini Air is the flag carrier airline of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Operated by the Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation (RENAC), the airline commenced scheduled passenger operations in March 2023. It was established to revive direct national air connectivity following the dissolution of Eswatini Airlink.
