MBABANE – Eswatini gifted midfielder Mxolisi ‘Given’ Lukhele is set to return to the pitch, just a year after a terrible accident.
The traffic accident resulted in the amputation of his left arm. The 25-year-old, a former rising star for Premier League side Mbabane Swallows, is reportedly joining Hhohho Super League club Zibonene Vultures on a season-long deal.
Super League is just two divisions below the Premier League. The move was confirmed by Vultures Manager Lucky Dlamini, who told this newspaper: “It is true that he will play for Vultures this season.”
The news marks an optimistic turn for Lukhele, whose promising career was halted last October.
He sustained life-changing injuries, including the loss of his arm, after the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a serious accident on the Buhleni-Msahweni Road.
Before the accident, Lukhele was making his mark at Mbabane Swallows, affectionately known as Umkhonto KaShaka. He had been a key player since joining from Malanti Chiefs at the start of the 2024/2025 season.
His impressive performances had earned him a starting place in the team and attracted interest from other major clubs, including Royal Leopard.
