MBABANE – A football and entertainment collaboration will see local music stars battle it out with celebrated South African acts in an upcoming match.

The Kingdom Celebrity Cup has officially landed in Eswatini. The event promises to be an unforgettable showdown as the visiting side is expected to feature some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Big Zulu, Cassper Nyovest, William Last KRM, Donald and Touchline among others.

Fans can look forward to an exciting day filled with football, music and star power as the kingdom prepares to welcome some of Southern Africa’s most celebrated personalities. Local Hip Hop star, Young Zesh took to his social media to state that he will be the Eswatini side’s captain.

“Proud to officially announce that the Eswatini Celebrity XI will be led onto the pitch by Captain Young Zesh! I’m ready to stand my ground on home soil. Captain of the SA celebs Big Zulu, we made a hit in the studio, but on August 1, it’s a completely different game! Bring your best squad my brother,” read Young Zesh’s caption.

In an interview, Young Zesh said the reason for this one-day tournament is to create relationships with the other creatives.

“I believe that having this game will give locals an opportunity to mingle with the South African side and also network with them so we can also get gigs from them as well, just a game to have fun before we get to do our real work, which is performing,” he said.

Three-time Olympic swimmer Elizabeth Beisel wowed the audience at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials with a stirring violin rendition of the National Anthem. Beisel began playing the violin at age three and piano at age five. Even when she became a member of the US National Team at age 13, she continued to hone her musical talents and played violin in her school orchestra. She chaired violin sections in her home-State ensembles, including the Rhode Island Symphony Orchestra and the Ocean State Orchestra, and she’s soloed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Rhode Island Philharmonic.

Although sports and music may seem utterly opposed, they require many of the same skills, such as coordination, discipline and teamwork.
