MBABANE – The Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) says the prize structure for the E10 Commemorative Coin Design Concept Competition is designed to promote a culture of saving, investment and entrepreneurship among emaSwati.

The competition, which marks the beginning of Eswatini’s journey towards celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Independence on September 6, 2028, will offer winners government investment instruments rather than conventional cash prizes.

The first-prize winner will receive a Government Investment Instrument valued at E100 000, while the second-prize winner will receive an instrument valued at E30 000. The third-prize winner will receive an instrument valued at E20 000.

CBE Governor Dr Phil Mnisi said the awards are intended to ensure that the competition’s impact extends beyond the immediate recognition of the winning participants.

According to Mnisi, the prize structure supports the Bank’s broader objective of promoting an investment culture among emaSwati while strengthening financial literacy and financial inclusion.

“The awards are intended to extend the impact of the competition beyond the immediate recognition of the winning participants,” Mnisi said.

He explained that by introducing winners to a practical and accessible investment platform, the initiative could encourage participants to develop a greater understanding of investment and the importance of putting money to work for the future.

The use of government investment instruments also gives the competition an entrepreneurial and financial education dimension, potentially encouraging participants to view prize money not only as a reward but as an opportunity to build financial assets.

According to CBE the competition represents the start of a broader national journey towards the 60th Independence anniversary, with emaSwati invited to contribute creatively to the design concept of the E10 commemorative coin.

The initiative, therefore, combines national celebration with financial empowerment, using the commemorative coin competition to encourage greater participation in saving, investment and entrepreneurship.
