Toyotais celebrating 60 years of the iconic Corolla with a special 60th Anniversary edition of its popular hatchback, with vehicle specialists Duoporta revealing that the model will cost E618 900 in South Africa.

The limited-edition Corolla Hatch has already been added to Toyota South Africa’s website, with orders open and deliveries expected from the end of October.

The anniversary model combines exclusive styling and additional specification while retaining the existing hybrid powertrain. Globally, more than 57 million Corollas have been sold, with the model currently manufactured at 12 locations and sold in 150 countries and regions.

The special edition stands out with New Boreal Blue metallic paint, a Night Sky Black roof and pillars, new 18-inch alloy wheels and matt silver 60th Anniversary decals and badging. Other available colours include Platinum White Pearl and Ash Grey metallic.

Inside, buyers get anniversary-branded scuff plates and carpet mats, alongside the Corolla’s 12.3-inch digital driver display and 10.5-inch Toyota Smart Connect+ touchscreen.

Safety remains a key feature, with Toyota Safety Sense technologies including Pre-Collision System, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Trace Assist, Emergency Steering Assist and Road Sign Assist.

Power comes from Toyota’s fifth-generation 1.8-litre hybrid system, producing 103kW and more than 140Nm through a CVT transmission. The Corolla reaches 180km/h and claims fuel consumption of just 4.0l/100km, giving its 43-litre tank a potential range of around 1 075km.

The 60th Anniversary edition costs E618 900, compared with E601 100 for the standard Corolla Hatch 1.8 HEV XR.
