MBABANE — Local recording artist Lesia Musiq and record label Mabonwa Abulawe Records have officially ended their professional relationship.

The label confirmed the split in a formal public statement, noting that the decision was made on amicable terms. Lesia Musiq, who has delivered several well-received tracks under the label including the fan-favourite collaborative single ‘Ikhalenda’ alongside Young Zesh and the hit ‘Macondzana’, is set to embark on his journey as an independent artist. Lesia music was signed in Mabonwa Abulawe Records in late 2025, he had signed a contract, which extends until 2030 with the  record deal.

In an official statement issued by Mabonwa Abulawe Records, the label confirmed the mutual agreement between both parties: “Mabonwa Abulawe Records would like to officially inform the public, fans, and all stakeholders that Lesia Musiq and Mabonwa Abulawe Records have mutually agreed to part ways. This decision comes as Lesia Musiq wishes to pursue new opportunities, grow his musical career, and explore his journey as an independent artist. Both parties have reached this agreement amicably, with mutual understanding and respect for one another,” the statement quotes.

This is not the first time a signed artist from the Eswatini music industry leaves a serving record deal to begin a solo journey. Notably, Young Zesh famously parted ways with Upscale Live while under contract, a move that ultimately led him to establish Mabonwa Abulawe Records after embarking on his independent artist journey.

Lesia Musiq now steps into a similar phase of self-determination, taking full creative control over the next chapter of his musical career. Both the artist and the record label expressed mutual respect as Lesia begins his solo journey.
